Hamburg: Conference Program

Hanseatic city with gateway to the world

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is Germany’s second largest city and the economic and cultural centre of northern Germany. The Port of Hamburg, located on the Elbe River, is one of the largest and most modern ports in Europe and is important for both container and cruise ships. The interesting harbour tours and bus ferries to the musicals on the other side of the river also start from here.

Hamburg’s cityscape is characterised by its close connection to the water and has more bridges than Amsterdam and Venice combined. It is therefore not surprising that many activities take place on or near the water. It is also worth visiting the beautiful riverbeach, where cafés invite you to linger and marvel at the huge container ships or taking a stroll along the Außenalster lake with its magnificent city villas.

The famous Reeperbahn is a popular nightlife and red-light district with a variety of restaurants, pubs and bars. Other highlights of the city worth seeing are the Speicherstadt, the adjacent HafenCity and, of course, Hamburg’s new landmark, the Elbphilharmonie.

Grand Elysée

The luxury hotel is located in the centre of Hamburg, very close to the beautiful Alster lake, the congress centre and within walking distance of the city centre. More than 500 spacious hotel rooms & suites impress with light colours, highest comfort and noble design. Culinary delights can be enjoyed in several restaurants and connoisseurs of art can find inspiration in the hotel own gallery. The spacious wellness area includes a pool area with bar, three outdoor terraces and relaxation rooms, a sauna area, a fitness room and a comprehensive range of spa treatments.

Culinary delights

A spacious boulevard with four restaurants, the Bourban Street Bar and the Boulevard Café is located in the spacious reception hall. The culinary variety of the restaurants ranges from traditional Mediterranean cuisine to exquisite French dishes and meat and steak specialities. The breakfast restaurant serves a rich buffet for the perfect start into the day.

The hotel’s excellent location and extensive facilities make it a popular meeting and conference hotel. A large selection of exclusive meeting rooms on an area of 4,200m² as well as the largest hotel hall in Hamburg, which extends over two levels with a gallery, are the flagship of the Grand Elyseés. In addition to state-of-the-art technology, the rooms offer the greatest flexibility and individuality and can therefore be perfectly designed for any type of event.

Dinner at Rickmer Rickmers
The tall ship, built in 1896, has been a floating landmark of Hamburg in the port of the Hanseatic city since 1983. A visit to the board restaurant is a unique experience. In the middle of the harbor and surrounded by numerous ships, regional dishes can be enjoyed in a particularly maritime atmosphere.

Harbour boat tour
When visiting Hamburg, there’s one thing you can’t miss: A boat trip through the port of Hamburg. Don’t forget your camera, because there are more than enough photo opportunities.  The panorama of the “Landungsbrücken” jetty with the Michel church tower in the background is a magnificent sight from the water. Experience the contrast between the historic buildings in the Speicherstadt, the modern architecture in the Hafencity and the modern logistics in the container port. It is an unforgettable experience to sail through this “gateway to the world” from a sailor’s perspective.

Gala Dinner at Gruenspahn
Firmly anchored in the heart of Sankt Pauli, around the corner of the famous Reeperbahn, is the famous Gruenspan located. At the end of the 19th century, the building was built as a “dance hall” – the beautifully decorated columns and a large gallery are witnesses of the time and create an atmospheric location with rustic charm. Enjoy a special gala evening in this legendary music club, where many famous bands have performed their songs.
