Hamburg: Meeting Program

Hanseatic city with gateway to the world

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is Germany’s second largest city and the economic and cultural centre of northern Germany. The Port of Hamburg, located on the Elbe River, is one of the largest and most modern ports in Europe and is important for both container and cruise ships. The interesting harbour tours and bus ferries to the musicals on the other side of the river also start from here.

Hamburg’s cityscape is characterised by its close connection to the water and has more bridges than Amsterdam and Venice combined. It is therefore not surprising that many activities take place on or near the water. It is also worth visiting the beautiful riverbeach, where cafés invite you to linger and marvel at the huge container ships or taking a stroll along the Außenalster lake with its magnificent city villas.

The famous Reeperbahn is a popular nightlife and red-light district with a variety of restaurants, pubs and bars. Other highlights of the city worth seeing are the Speicherstadt, the adjacent HafenCity and, of course, Hamburg’s new landmark, the Elbphilharmonie.

Highlights

Hotel suggestions

Atlantic

Situated directly on lake Alster, not far from the city centre, the Hanseatic city’s best-known luxury hotel combines tradition and modernity in a unique way.  Once built for the first-class passengers of Hapag-Lloyd, the grand hotel still radiates classic elegance today – this is where Hamburg meets the world. In the inviting and spacious rooms you can enjoy puristic luxury and large windows. Historical event salons and modern board rooms convince with convertibility and individuality for large and small events. The gourmet restaurant serves fresh and best ingredients in the style of French cuisine. A second restaurant focuses on Hanseatic and regional specialities with its Grill & Health concept. A bar and an open-air courtyard invite you to relax and enjoy. The wellness area offers pool, sauna and fitness as well as soothing spa treatments.

Ameron Speicherstadt

The hotel is located directly in the UNESCO world heritage Speicherstadt and is characterised by the harmony of contemporary design and elegant mid-century style. The sophisticated interior of the rooms is inspired by the 50s and 60s and combines classic and modern elements. The same style can also be found in the conference rooms and adds to the special charm as an event location. In the wellness area on the seventh floor, you can relax in the sauna, sanarium and fitness area with a wonderful view over the Speicherstadt. The hotel’s own restaurant serves traditional Italian cuisine with a modern interpretation. The bar invites you to linger with a fireplace, lounge music and excellent drinks.

Scandic Hamburg Emporio

This sustainability-focused business hotel is within walking distance of the exhibition center and downtown, and features a design inspired by the element of water. An “artful” stay can be enjoyed in the rooms with natural wood furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows. A wide range of meeting and event rooms with natural light offer plenty of space for events and great ideas. The H²O restaurant prepares regional products with a Scandinavian touch in its show kitchen. You can enjoy a good drink in the bar & lounge of the same name or on the cozy terrace in the courtyard.

Meeting

Kiez Tour – St. Pauli Nachtwächter
Get an inside view of Hamburg´s party and red-light district and get to know why this is all paired in this one area of Hamburg. With much humour and the charm of an old sailor, the guide tells about how Europe’s biggest red-light-district was formed. On the old, beaten “sailor route” it takes a few minutes from the jetties of the Elbe up to the world-famous Reeperbahn. At the same time all questions will be answered, which you have never dared to ask: What does the sobering up in the Davidwache cost? Where did Joe Cocker vomit? May woman take a look at Herbertstrasse? Where did Sir Paul McCartney pee on the street? If you want to know exactly, don’t hesitate…

Dinner at Altes Mädchen
In the middle of the trendy Sternschanze district is the brewery restaurant “Altes Mädchen”, which invites you to linger with its cosy wooden interior and beer garden. Here you will find a huge selection of craft beers on tap and bottled beers from all over the world, which are recommended to go with seasonal specialities. The menu includes regional classics as well as fresh bread products from the wood-fired oven. Great importance is attached to the use of regional products, gentle processing and a sensible approach to the environment.

Harbour cruise
When visiting Hamburg, there’s one thing you can’t miss: A boat trip through the port of Hamburg. It is an unforgettable experience to sail through this “gateway to the world” from a sailor’s perspective.
