Moselle

Located in the west of Germany, the region of the river Moselle is one of the loveliest and romantic one can find in Germany. Already the Romans knew about the favorable climate of the region and began to cultivate wine.

The beautiful landscape along the winding river Moselle, followed by wine yards on the hills can be discovered on many different ways: by foot, boat or bicycle. Small and cozy villages are inviting to taste the local wines on one of the numerous wine festivals in the summer and autumn. Another possibility to explore the region with all senses, is a guided hike through the vast vineyards in combination with wine-tastings, which many vintners offer.

The colorful villages Bernkastel-Kues or Traben-Trarbach with their half-timbered houses must be seen. Spectacular castles can be discovered in the area and are worth a visit, especially Burg Eltz, which is known all over the world for its unique and romantic architecture and located on a steep hill, especially Burg Eltz, which is known all over the world for its unique and romantic architecture and located on a steep hill.

Another highlight is the city of Trier, which is the oldest city in Germany. Its roman origins still can be seen all over, with sights such as the Porta Nigra and ruins of ancient thermal baths and open air theaters. Even here, the wine yards seem to merge with the city: In the valley of Trier one can experience everything of a vibrant city life, while a little further up the hill the vine yards invite to relax.
